All I can say is, "WOW". I was skeptical, but these JBE Jazzmaster Two/Tone pickups do exactly what they're advertised to do: in humbucking mode, they're nice and toasty, and overdrive SO nicely. Split the coils, and you have classic Jazzmaster tone. But with one huge improvement: *NO* noise. I can't say enough, and will recommend JBE until the end of time.
. Man oh man I love these pickups. Had an ole friend stop by. Had my Tele straight in to my '63 Vibroverb (my workhorse). Handed him the guitar. He played for five or six minutes. Looks over at me with the biggest smile. Why would you need anything else. Uh huh...I said. Twangalisious. A very grateful owner.
After years bonding with the Gatton pickups on a Tele, I decided to put together a Warmoth tele style, but using HB Two/Tones. I was hoping to get the classic tele sound and also the ability to get PAF sounds at the push of a switch. These pickups can do this with NO compromise. I’ve tried other coil splitting humbuckers and the split tones have always been less than satisfying. This being my first build, and being that each two/tone has 6 conductors I was pretty confused as a first timer. Let me say that Frank was amazing in walking me through this. He was patient and generous with his time and encouraged me through this project. I had many questions along the way and he took the time to reply very thoughtfully and specific to my build. I wanted to learn how to do this and was glad I didn’t get the “just bring it to a guitar tech” response. Also thanks to Frank. My knowledge is now deeper and I’ll be more self sufficient next time. Couldn’t be happier with the results. Thank you!
I've tried most of the noiseless SC sized offerings out there and thought I finally found what I was looking for in the Kinmans. Rather than wait 3 weeks again on a set of Kinmans from the Philippines, and deal with all the online hassle of dealing with them (another story), I decided to go with JBE for my Tyler S-style. I'd already heard so much about them and appreciated the different design. Plus, I can get them here in the USA with ease. To my ears, these easily beat out any of the Kinman Strat offerings I've tried up to Kinman Big 9-O.
The JBE's are clean & glassy-clear, yet tight, punchy, ballsy, without being to dark or strident. Still very "Stratty" on the in between positions, plenty of bark and bite in the middle & bridge positions. ALL DEAD SILENT-NO HUM!!!!!!!
Goodbye Kinmans, hello JBE!
Accept no substitutes. These are the real deal!
Absolutely loving the sound and feel of my Modern Tele Set! My installation was a little unusual, and after emailing Frank, he called me and walked me through what I needed to do. Above and beyond. I already knew how good they sound, and equally important, how good they feel and respond. I already had JBEs on another guitar. Highly, highly recommended.
thanks for the great pickups and service, they sound great and no noise. ill buy more for my other basses!!!!!!!!
This is my 3rd JBE pickup purchase and couldn't be more pleased. For me, it's nothing but JBE pickups in my guitars. Nothing compares to their versatility in playing country, rockabilly, and rock. Their sound is OUSTANDING...... and QUIET!! When I purchase my Stratocaster a set of JBE's was definitely in order immediately.
Have JBE Gatton's in my Telecaster, and Soap Bars in my Gibson Melody Maker.
Love your pick ups, have two teles made by Tim Kratz, named " Hazel" and " red mistress"both have the gattons just great! Last week I put a strat set on a -parts- strat, wow, great phase position, clarity and quiet. I've been using your pick ups for 22 years. Live and recording , I'm always happy with them, any song or situation, thanks
I had been having trouble with one of my pre-2005 T-style pickups, and had to send the bridge pickup to Frank T. to figure out why it kept cutting out. He not only repaired the pickup, he was a pleasure to work with. Thank you, Frank, for your great service!
Just finished installing my new S-Style Deluxe Chunky pickup set into my American Standard Stratocaster and took them for a test drive.
All I can say is UNBELIEVABLE!! As with my Telecaster with it's JBE Gatton T Style pickups and my Melody Maker with it's JBE Soap Bar pickups, I was totally blown away. Wasn't sure at first if I was going to totally like going with the Chunky pickup at the bridge. Was afraid it might be to fat of a sound and I was going to loose all the highs, but I was extremely, extremely pleased. It does take down some of the real bright high end twang, which is what I was looking for, and gave me a little bit more lower tone punch. NICE!!I I use the Strat for more of the rock/hard rock our band plays rather than any of our country tunes. I let the my Telecaster handle the more country and rockabilly tunes we play.
Really excited about bringing the Stratocaster to practice today and blowing everyone in the band away with it's incredible new JBE sound. Couldn't ask for a better set of pickups. For me it's nothing but JBE!
And giant THANK YOU to Frank for his guidance in me installing my new S-Style Deluxe Chunky pickups. Much appreciated indeed. I commonly let our band's guitar tech handle any upgrades and setups, but wanted to tackle this job personally, and glad that I did. For those out there who are undertaking the installation of their new JBE's on their own, and have never installed pickups in their guitars(s) before, just follow the very well written and laid out instruction sheet provided with your JBE pickups. My only suggestion would be to install a new volume and tone pots, and a new 5 way switch rather than de-soldering and re-using the originals. It will save you a lot of aggravation in the long run.
Again, thank you Frank for your assistance, and all at JBE, for making simply the best pickups out there.
