The story goes that Danny couldn’t get the exact tone he was looking for with off-the-shelf, mass-produced pickups. He needed something more personal, more real…more truthful.
Joe Barden and Danny Gatton, spent countless amounts of time perfecting the ultimate pickup. In addition to tone, it was of utmost importance that the pickup carried no noise or hum of its own. It had to do the job perfectly without getting in the way of the music it was presenting.
